"they think Hamas is brutalizing Palestinians with extremist political Islam, all while ignoring the fact that Israel is a fanatical military theocracy built on a false reading of religion." - that is 100% true and everyone can see what Israel as a theocracy is, they don't even hide it. But it is (predictably) impossible to visit Hamas' website and see and hear what they stand for. Hamas is NO WAY any extremist. Hamas has never persecuted any other religion and is not going to. Hamas wants to build a Palestinian State with equal rights for all citizens, regardless of religion and ethnicity. The only reactionary goal of Hamas is, surprisingly, the infamous "two-state solution": Hamas advocates for two states, in terms of 1967 borders. In that sense, the One Democratic State Campaign (Haidar Eid/Ilan Pappe), that calls for the complete dismantlement of Israel as a Jewish State, is way more extremist!
