Israeli officials said it in public that the goal is to "annihilate Lebanon", not to target Hezbollah, because Hezbollah is Lebanese and the whole nation must be wiped out for punishment. This is how they think. Their terrorism is not in order to coerce Lebanese government to do something they want, but to physically eliminate human beings. Because as the Israeli officials said "we are not stupid to go fight Hezbollah. We will annihilate Lebanon".
